I was a early adopter of this device and purchased it as soon as it was available.
Its hard to articulate just how great the device was, as a format for my child to interact with grandparents that are far away. On the very first call, after a short setup, my 5 year old shooed me away to figure out the device with my 65 year old mother and in full credit to the design it was intuitive for them to figure everything out on their own. They would have 1-3 hour sessions every week sometimes multiple times a week and it was great not only for the content on the device but also just for the interaction of the video call that was always present and didnt interfere with the play area. The regular interaction my child had with grandparents over this device made for a more close relationship despite the pandemic and the distance between them and when we did have a chance to get everyone together it was easy to see how much stronger and familiar their bond was despite being so distant.
After spending the last 3 months of this year looking for alternatives in devices or apps, it seems to me that there is nothing available that has all the capabilities the glow did. Amazons decision to end the product and shut down services is such a monumental bad call that i dont even have the words for it. Proper marketing could have made this a staple device for any family with children that need to keep in contact with family/friends over distance.
Amazon please reactivate the service for this device, even if it gets no further development or additions, its a great loss not having this anymore. Ill be holding on to this device for years hoping that it gets reactivated.

When this arrived I was excited to see how it could help the relationship between our daughter and her grandparents who live 5 hours away. Little did I know this would create such a strong bond and make them so much more a part of each others lives.My daughter Adalind would come home from school and get on the glow to call her Mimi. They would be on there talking, reading and playing games for so long we would have to go check on her to make sure that she was okay sometimes. The relationship that blossomed from these interactions was nothing short of amazing. This product actually gave them a relationship where very little existed before.Fast forward to now March of 2023, they are now no longer interacting with each other on a regular basis. You could say just use skype or facetime but it is not anywhere near the same. This gave them a way to interact where as skype calls usually end with Adalind getting bored and flinging the phone or tablet around.We have never had the loss of a product affect our lives like this and every day our daughter asks when Amazon is going to turn it back on because she wants to talk to her Mimi. I hope if nothing else this review lets people know the reach this product can have and gives amazon the extra nudge it needs to bring this or a new version back out.

My daughter Adalind would come home from school and get on the glow to call her Mimi. They would be on there talking, reading and playing games for so long we would have to go check on her to make sure that she was okay sometimes. The relationship that blossomed from these interactions was nothing short of amazing. This product actually gave them a relationship where very little existed before.
Fast forward to now March of 2023, they are now no longer interacting with each other on a regular basis. You could say just use skype or facetime but it is not anywhere near the same. This gave them a way to interact where as skype calls usually end with Adalind getting bored and flinging the phone or tablet around.
We have never had the loss of a product affect our lives like this and every day our daughter asks when Amazon is going to turn it back on because she wants to talk to her Mimi. I hope if nothing else this review lets people know the reach this product can have and gives amazon the extra nudge it needs to bring this or a new version back out.
