Come to Zion Volume 3: Fresh Courage Take Kindle Edition
Beloved novelist Dean Hughes skillfully interweaves the stories of two Latter-day Saint families separated by five generations and 150 years, both facing challenges that test their faith and commitment to the Church. For Liz and Will Lewis, leaving Nauvoo for an unknown wilderness has proven to be the most difficult trial of their lives, but greater challenges lie ahead as Will joins the Mormon Battalion and Liz Leaves Winter Quarters to brave the trek west with her children. For Jeff and Abby Lewis in modern-day Nauvoo, learning to put first things first becomes a much more difficult challenge than they could have imagined, providing a unique perspective on the struggles that are faced by faithful Saints in any generation.

We come away with a greater understanding of the mid 1800 hardships and the biases again the newly converted LDS Church members, which were many; particularly physically. The struggles of the 2000's are plenty as well, mostly technological , educational and emotional (though there were emotion ones in both eras).
I enjoyed notes at the end of the book which instructed us how to get on the Ancestry.com website to learn of any writings our own ancestors may have left in the archives. My husband's great-grandfather served in the Mormon Battalion and we cam away understand that era much better, as well as all his wife went though.
Loved theses books I felt like I was truly living with all the family's past and present while both groups endured different problems I felt like they were each trying to be good people and always trying to help each other . I am a relative of Robert Harris and have read some of his history. This story really makes me feel closer to him and his family. I feel like we are all being refined throughout our life's here. I would recommend theses books to everyone the least bit interested in the pioneers are life .
Living near the Salt Lake valley I know at least one thing....those early Saints made their dreams come true through hard work and faith in the Lord.
