The Transcendent Authors pulled together and created this book, Spring the Unexpected, for the benefit of all people. Ten different genres are depicted. Each author provided two stories for your enjoyment.
You might not always have time to sit down and read a novel, and you miss that. Life has become so hectic for so many, short stories give you something new to experience in five minutes or an hour. And if you don't read them all, no problem.
In fact, you might want to keep it by the bathtub for when you have those long soaks and a glass of wine to unwind from your busy day.

About the authors
I am a husband, a father, and a writer living in New Mexico. Thrilling people with my storytelling is what I enjoy most and I write because I have incredible stories to tell. I take no responsibility for the things the characters say and do (ha ha ha). I develop a character and that person becomes a free spirit exploring the world I create for them.
Sincerely, Kevin Urban
Kathleen Osborne's focus is on Sci-Fi Romance set in the present time and short stories of various genres.
She lives with her husband of 45 years, and they're four-legged 'girls' - Sugar and Gigi - who run the house. Together they have two children - Angella and Joseph, who have five children between them. In November 2021, they welcomed their 2nd great grandson into their extended family.
She lives at an elevation over 6000 feet in the White Mountains of northeastern Arizona. Has created an avid interest in baking. And imbibed her with a desire for new recipes for high altitude.
When asked how does she get her stories out so quickly in Kindle Vella, her reply was, "My husband is my greatest encourager and my biggest fan, that said he is also quick to point out any errors in a manuscript. Just as he is with helping in my research. We are a team."
She just announced her newest book, Hidden Dragons, on Kindle Vella will have its first chapter posted on Wednesday, April 13, 2022. She is working on a video and audio excerpt from it. I will post it on her website and here as soon as it is done.
You can find out more about her and the team she works with for the Anthologies she prints, too, by going to her website (www.kosborne-author.com) and the Transcendent Author's site (www.transcendent-authors.com).
L’Michelle Bleu L’Eau is an emerging author who formerly wrote book reviews for a community paper, and now writes flash fiction, and short stories leaning into her ancestral lineage and traditions. Her protagonists are shaped by a human or social issue that affects their life. L’Michelle takes her affinity for nature, in its purest form, to align characters and natural elements and guides them through a transformative denouement.
As an alum of diyMFA, she wrote her first short story “The Blooming Box,” which was published in 2021 in The Write Practice 10th Anniversary writing contest. Later that year, she joined the Transcendent Authors formerly known as the Anthology Group.
Currently, she is editing her novel, which is about finding voice, cultural, and ethnic acceptance after domestic violence and is also working on several short stories including an edited version of her late mother’s handwritten manuscript recently discovered.
L’Michelle lives on the East Coast, while editing her upcoming novel. You can visit her website at michellebleuleau.com.
This year for the first time as a new member of Transcendent Authors, two short stories by L’Michelle will appear in the Spring Anthology.
Jonathan Byrd is a husband, father of three daughters, and an eternal optimist oftentimes labeled a Micawber. He was born in Biloxi and never imagined living anywhere else. However, after leaving he never imagined moving back. The more he sees of the world the more he wants to see. Currently he lives in Fairhope, Alabama, the hidden jewel of the state.
His favorite genre to write in is science fiction, but he has completed and is polishing Seafood Capital of the World, a historical fiction novel set in the Prohibition Era on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
He has teamed with a group of nine authors to self-publish short story anthologies. Tolerance: A Collection of Short Stories, Autumn: An Anthology, and recently Spring—The Unexpected.
When he isn’t writing he’s thinking about writing even if it looks like he’s doing something else—like work. He has an answer for everything, opinion on anything, and is quiet about nothing.
Aletta Bee lives near Los Angeles, California, alongside the MGM lake built for its Tarzan movies. She loves the 47 ducks and 24 Koi who populate the lake. Her cat would love them too, but that’s a no-no.
A Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice, Aletta Bee is fascinated by the way people influence each other, misunderstand each other, and ultimately love each other.
L.K. Blair
Author L.K. Blair (or Lyn Blair) is an emerging author who writes in the speculative fiction genre: sci-fi fantasy, dystopian, apocalyptic, supernatural, paranormal and magical realism.
For over 15 years, she has flexed her creative muscles as a copywriter and web designer. In response to some tough personal challenges, storytelling became a new passion and cathartic outlet for her.
L.K. Blair’s stories open doors to other dimensions or universes where characters struggle with relationships, self-doubts or personality flaws that lead to conflicts. Yet, in each story a new insight or understanding arises from the story’s theme. The author loves stories that send messages where the “better angels of our nature” find a time of awakening.
She has written several short stories and is working on the last book in a trilogy. The three novels will be released at the same time. This year for the first time as a new member of Transcendent Authors, two short stories by L.K. Blair appeared in the Spring—The Unexpected, our spring anthology.
Dena Linn, raised in a West Coast commune and groomed to explore the world, decided young not to be one of those ‘California girls’ and only in her stories does she look back. Her passion is exploring the fragility of human nature. Her experiences give her voice the flavor of many cultures from Shanghai, China to Fanaka Kwara, Niger, and from Guanajuato, Mexico to Lillesand, Norway. With the help of writing groups and her fellow writers in Authors without Borders, Dena has published several stories on www.Shortfictionbreak.com, and on her website www.linnfiction.com, and will soon publish her first book: An Innocent Murder, that explores passions, mental struggles, and murder.
Ana Paulina Lipster was born in Brazil and fell in love with the English language in junior high - love at first word. Ana Paulina has written many short stories, two of which are published in the Tolerance anthology. Her crime novel Branded will be published soon.

And this modern athenaeum, at just under three hundred pages, absolutely delivers. From romance to science fiction, from literary to magical realism, there is something for not just every reader, but, equally important, something for every mood, for every day, for every occasion.
I had the great enjoyment of test-reading several of these and only wish that there was a way to share the artists' arc as they worked out the stories, crafted the paths and smoothed the letters to make each journey what we read today. Supporting the arts is rewarding, this collection returned the measure many fold
