Standby mode (update on fix)

(Ok finally found a post online to show me the fix. Turn soundbar off, hold power and volume down buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds. Turns power save off.) First, if I'm using fire tv it automatically goes into standby mode every 20 minutes. I've checked every setting, there is no standby or power saving settings. It sounds good but sometimes it sounds loud and at other times it isn't loud enough at max. Sound modes show very little difference in sound. You cannot use the sound bar with echo subwoofer. If you choose Theater sound it will only use your echos w sub or the soundbar. Going to return.

I normally don’t review products, but I feel compelled to review this product because the top review says it only works with the fire stick and not with cable TV and that simply isn’t true, people just don’t understand how HDMI and audio input and outputs work.

So chances are your TV has multiple HDMI ports, but only one of them is actually going to allow audio in and out at the same time (probably HDMI 1)... that is what your sound bar needs to be plugged into. Once your sound bar is plugged into that, your cable TV audio through HDMI will be able to picked by the sound bar.

My husband and I have two of these bad boys and we love them. They are great, sound quality is awesome for the price, mounting them is super easy, and the fact that the fire stick is built in can’t be beat. They typically go on sale for prime day or for Black Friday so wait to purchase until then if you want to save money, but go ahead and buy this, you won’t regret it!!!

The sound quality is phenomenal. I hardly need to raise the volume past 15, where as my television needed to be at 100. The FireTv interface is smooth as opposed to the lag you get from other non-Amazon devices. The ability to also have additional
devices connected is wonderful, as the sound quality from my Xbox was previously abysmal. I highly recommend this for any person in need of superior sound quality.

I have a Bose Soundtouch 130 system in my living room that I paid $1,600 for a few years ago...it’s as good as it gets IMHO.

That being said, I bought two of the TCL for my bedroom and office through Woot! at a deep discount. Even if I had paid the full list of $199 this is a terrific value for a fine soundbar.

If you are looking for input and features galore such as with my Bose, this is not your soundbar. If you are looking for decent features and quality sound and video, this soundbar is hard to beat. Read the specs so you know what you are buying. Some of the reviews I have read seem to suggest some buyers failed to do this, and are then “surprised” later.

You get good audio frequency response at 40 hz-20,000 kHz, and the built-in subwoofers deliver plenty of bottom end. Dialogue is clear and easily heard. Plenty of system power with 200 watts.

A few quick notes:

The built in Fire stick and Alexa are great features.

The remote is versatile and functional. Installation is simple and easy.

You get three sound modes: movie, music, and news- you cannot adjust the sound further...but I found the presets are nicely calibrated and sound great.

Bluetooth is a nice feature.

You have only one video output- HDMI ARC (audio return channel). If your TV also has this, then any other devices (blu-ray, XBox, satellite, etc.) that you plug into your tv will have the sound routed through the TCL...a nice feature. If your TV does not have HDMI ARC, then you will be limited.

All in all, this is a very fine soundbar that delivers 4K Fire stick video, Alexa, and powerful quality audio.

I am blown away by the features, quality, and performance of this soundbar at an amazing price point.

I would definitely buy them again.

Directions are not well written

What seems most disheartining is the 120w claim. This is no way 120w sound system... my stereo speakers are rated at 100w and they blow the house down when max out.
The directions as to choosing the type of sound: example: you have to hold down the select button for a min of 5-8 sec to select the sound options of OPT or HDVI to here sound. Nothing in directions said this, I stumbled on this by accident.
Just better disciptions would be good. I would like to be a tester for these types of products before they get put out for sale to make sure they work as advertised.. Just a thought

It’s has been over year since I have it and I simply love it. I use five tv as my primary stream device and this sound bar has fire tv inbuilt, I don’t have to buy or maintain two separate devices. It is amazing how well it works with my 15 year old Samsung lcd tv. Yes my tv has hdmi arc and I have connected this bar to tv using hdmi. I do not use any other device on my tv so I cannot tell how well it works with other input. Besides firetv. I some times play music from my iPhone. It sounds good. I have never went pass volume 12 because it gets very loud at 10. If you are planning to use firetv stick and 2.1 soundbar then go for this one. Definitely recommend.

This sound bar works like a charm. It's connected to an LG 50" 4K smart TV and all you need to do is, connecting the HDMI port to the TV HDMI arc port. Connect power and pair the FireTV 4K Remote with the sound bar. The speakers on the TV automatically turns of and the sound goes to the sound bar.
Pair the FireTV 4K via wifi to the internet and you are in business.
The sound bar can act a standalone speaker set, using Bluetooth connection to ie cell phone and with the TV off.
Works perfectly with the TV LG apps. The set-top box for the cable connection goes to a separate HDMI port, and the TV remote will do switching TV/FireTV.
I have not had any issues/trouble with this setup - and my only wish would be a little deeper low end sound.
I understand that the subwoofer is built in to the sound bar and thereby restricted by the physical size of the sound bar.
