How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Devoted to Christ and unwilling to renounce their faith North Koreans are imprisoned even now under dark and dreadful conditions. Let us not forget to pray for them. May they stand firm in their Faith and may the God of all comfort loosen the chains of darkness that hold them in bondage. Come soon Lord Jesus

3.0 out of 5 starsGreat story, yet sometimes fantastical
Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2016
I'm enjoying this book. It was recommended by a friend, who thought this was related to Kenneth Bae. This is not related to him in the least.

I speak Chinese fluently and have translated for people who have suffers terrible abuses. Saying that, some of the stories are a bit fantastical. I think the translator could have done some more work to verify stories or dig fire better translation because some things sound a but far fetched.

That being said, and having lived in China for 12 years, I'm used to some of that.

Good story though, and a fascinating glimpse into North Korea.

5.0 out of 5 stars Timeless message for all generations

My sister and I read and discussed the message of this book on the Waikiki beach. We understand that the search for verifiable truth of faithful christians living in the DPRK required a ten-year search. The patience of the author is obvious in each clearly understandable line of this text. Perhaps no reader will truly believe the experiences described here. Most sound like fiction. Yet, each expericence of each member of the Bae family aspires me to know the Hananim described by the Bae family. This book has instilled excitement to read the bible, memorize the bible, live the Bible, and share the bible. If that was the author’s goal, then he hit the target with this reader.

This is a MUST read. We all know north Korea is bad but we don't know HOW bad until reading this book. I was a child when the Korean war took place. MaCarthur wanted to go on and rescue ALL of Korea from the communists. Truman ordered him to stop at the 39th parallel. Big mistake, although that issue is not discussed in this book. It is spine tingling and would make a good novel, but sadly, it's all true. I read it all in one sitting because i couldn't put it down.

This little book gives a quick overview of 3 generations of a Chinese Christian family that wound up in North Korea. The personal experiences tell of a paranoid North Korean government that goes way beyond Big Brother. These are not professional writers, just plain people with a story to tell.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Rare view of Christian Life in North Korea

I find myself sharing stories from this book. It is a rare presentation of life for 3 generations of Christians in North Korea. How God used the grandfather to save a village; how each generation shared their faith in God; how the son in the third generation came to a point of asking if it was possible to be a member of the communist party and a Christian a the same time. It is a powerful story of life for Christians in North Korea. I bought my book on Kindle, at some point I wouldn't be surprised if I purchase extra copies to give away.

I do enjoy reading books of an historical or true nature. This is a saga of three generations of a family that kept their faith in God and were guided to safety - but not until the end of the third generation. The hardships in North Korea are horrible to say the least. I would recommend this book.

The story of the Bae Family’s defection from North Korea to South Korea is very convicting to me as a United States pampered Christian.
This made me look closer at my faith.

5.0 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I'VE READ!

What an important book to illustrate how God is working despite the harsh conditions for Christians. North Korean law guarantees freedom of religion, but just the opposite is true. To own a Bible is to guarantee a labor camp sentence. To worship the God of Heaven who created the universe and everything in it is an offense to the leader who demands worship. This created being will stand before the Creator someday and account for this.

These are the Generations shows the power of God in reaching the soul and heart of an oppressed people. This book was so inspiring and I thank Mr. Foley for writing it.
