Faithful unto death

I love Tom Doyle’s books. In this one, “ Killing Christians” he gives several testimonies of those who are martyred, and those who are miraculously spared. It reminds me of James and Peter in prison; James was martyred, while Peter is spared by an angel sent by God. God chooses. It is one of the hardest things we struggle with; God’s authority to choose. While responding to questions from John’s disciples , Jesus says,” Blessed is the one who is not offended because of me.” We do get offended when He chooses one way, while we prayed for a different way. In “ Killing Christians” we must confront our attitudes about God’s sovereignty in choosing. I rejoiced and wept at the same time. In the final analysis, I accepted that our creator God is a mysterious King of the universe, and I am just one if His creations. I bow to His right to choose.
