Goes offline in every a few days even with new battery
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on November 17, 2021
Bought the floodlight battery version together with the Echo as bridge. It had been working well for about 10 days before it went offline. I thought it might be battery problem, but it was not. When I took the batteries out and put them back, the floodlight went back online showing the battery at 100%. I replaced the batteries anyway as I got new ones. However, the flood light went offline again in just 3 days. This is very frustrating. I have no idea what went wrong as the batteries are good and the wireless signal is strong. I probably will return the floodlight.
[update] The floodlight went back online by itself after 3 days. Will see what will happen in the next a few days.
[update] The floodlight went offline again. This is the worst amazon product I ever had.
[update] After I had posted this review, I got email from Ring CS support to contact their customer service. It turned out not to help at all. What they can tell you is just to factory reset the device, which is the easy instruction that I already got online and already did. So, I am going to return the product.
[update 12/13/2021] With some experiments, it seems that the problem is in the communication between Echo and the Floodlight. Resetting the Echo can bring the Floodlight back online. Though its still a problem that the floodlight goes offline in every a few days, its easier to reset the Echo indoor than the Floodlight outdoor.
[update 01/27/2022] In the past month, the Floodlight didn't lose connection anymore. I guess either software update on Echo or firmware update on Floodlight fixed the problem. I bumped up the rate to 3 stars.
