My least favourite Killing book

I am a big fan of Bill O’Reilly and his Killing series of books. That said, I came away from this read rather disappointed. Perhaps because I happen to be very familiar with the subject matter having served in the United States Marine Corps for 15 years and working in both Iraq and Afghanistan for another 3 as a contractor. During his interviews on Glen Beck and Sean Hannity, Mr O’Reilly made it seem as if he had made some truly earth shattering discoveries in his research. He did not. Despite suggesting that he unveiled previously classified information; “Killing the Killers” is a re-hash of open source data that I’ve seen elsewhere. There were also some glaring oversights. No mention was made of the Special Missions Unit that was on scene minutes after the drone strike in Baghdad to collect Soleimani’s DNA. Add to that, the caption of the picture of Soleimani’s severed hand with his distinctive ring incorrectly mentions, “…killed when two US helicopters attacked two convoys carrying the Quds Force.”
In addition to the laughable use of the term “clips” in lieu of magazines (ammunition feeding device for firearms); Mr O’Reilly and his coauthor struck a nerve with me for failing to capitalize the word Marine for an entire chapter (the epilogue). C’mon Bill, you’re better than that.
