I have an unfortunate condition and have to finish a series of they are all out. That being said the first book is a very hard read. After a exciting first chapter the book takes a sharp nose dive. The first half of the book is about fishing.... that's pretty much it. Just fishing and getting you acquainted with secondary and third tier characters that you'll not hear from again. There is gratuitous left leaning politics that have absolutely nothing to do with the book and often, in my opinion, hender the flow of story. I.e.. Dean's fathers being gay, the first female character we read about generally drops that's she's gay and has a wife for no reason. The second book spends a lot of time focusing and preluding towards a character building up potential and mystery.... just to kill it off in the first real battle that they are in. The third book seems very rushed after finally getting interesting and seeing how the back story, intrigue, suspense, and flow finally get going only to abruptly end. Every thing is cut off... leaving you feeling unsatisfied and wondering why this was the ending.
I enjoyed it. The sex scenes weren't necessary and didn't add much to the story. I felt that the world building was a little overdone. I thought the ending felt severely rushed and too much deus ex machina. Otherwise, a good story.

Another great series by this author. Interesting MC and supporting team members and each having their own value to the whole. Very enjoyable and well worth your time to read. For me on to the next series by this author.
